PAST GRANTS

ECOSYSTEMS IN ACTION AT CENTRAL

Dear LGEF,

Thank you so much for the grant to help supplement our 5th grade science unit focusing on ecosystems in action! We were able to build and maintain aquatic ecosystems within our classroom using live animals purchased with the LGEF grant money. The hands-on learning experience was invaluable in solidifying science concepts, and they LOVED it!  Thank you again for helping to bring our ecosystems unit to life

Sincerely, Misty Hines

WALLOWA'S FIELD TRIP

Dear LGEF,
Thank you so much for the $250 grant!! We are very excited to finally make this field trip happen (after spending years talking about it).  Our students will be able to learn about sub alpine ecosystems, glacial moraines, types of rocks, the Nez Perce culture, and Kokanee life cycles.  We are very grateful for this opportunity.
Thank you.

ROBORAPTORS

The Lego Robotics Team--the RoboRaptos--from Central Elementary School would like to thank you for your generous grant of $300. This year's theme is RePlay. The team has been asked to create a way for the people of our community to stay fit. Team members have also taken home Central's robot hubs and are building and programming them. Your contribution helped to buy our Challenge Kit, which consists of the table mat and Legos to build the missions. Thank you again!

POETRY FOR ALL

I received a grant for the construction  of a Poetry Post. I had noticed Literacy Posts in the Portland area and I wanted to do my part in bringing poetry to the streets of La Grande. Literally. The Foundation helped me achieve this goal of promoting literacy in the community.

OUR RECENT DRIVE HIT OVER 1,000 DONATIONS

I received a foundation grant in support of the garden club at Central Elementary.  The generous funding from LEF provided garden gloves, trowels, compost bin, wheelbarrow, and other tools to help give a leg-up to the group of volunteers (adults and students) who provide this service for the school.

I appreciate that the process for this grant is very simple and straightforward. I am especially grateful the La Grande Education Foundation has the vision to see the importance of bringing education to the community and provides a direct link in supporting that vision.
